Richard trained at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, graduating with a first class honours degree in June 2006. Whilst at Mountview, he was nominated for the 2006 Spotlight Prize and was a commended finalist in the 2006 BBC Carlton Hobbs Radio Competition.
A born-and-bred Blackpool actor, Richard made his professional acting debut in 1997 at the age of 13 with the Royal Shakespeare Company in their production of Cyrano de Bergerac, with Antony Sher in the title role. His other theatre credits include Whispering Happiness (Box of Tricks); Othello (Frantic Assembly - UK Tour); Sir Peter Hall's Pygamlion (Old Vic); The Tempest and A Midsummer Night's Dream (UK and International Tours); The Tempest (UK Tour); A Midsummer Night's Dream and The Comedy of Errors (Ludlow Castle); The Threepenny Opera (Lyric, Hammersmith) and Murder in the Cathedral (Southwark Cathedral and Westminster Cathedral) both with the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain; Brenda Bly Teen Detective (Pleasence Theatre, Islington); Thickness of Skin (Chelsea Theatre) and appeared in The 24 Hour Plays: Red Bull Sessions (Tabard Theatre). Film and television credits include The Insiders (Channel 4 / Twenty Twenty Television) Ant & Dec's Push the Button (ITV) and the DVLA "Crushed" advertising campaign (Rokkit / Central Office of Information). Richard has also worked as a voiceover artist for BBC Active.
In November, Richard was a part of the Vibrant! Festival at London's Finborough Theatre reading the character of 'Sam' in a rehearsed reading of Face Up, Face Down by Michael Lesslie. |
